Saturday, October 13 - Rock-A-Billy Shake Up! w. The Alistair Christl Band & Burnin' Ethyl + DJ Dave Faris
Allright all you hip cats, hot rodders, hip swingers and big greasers!
It's confirmed, and it's going to be a scorcher. The first ever west-end Rock-A-Billy night is rolling into 3030, on Saturday, October 13 and brought to you by the same great folks who do the East-end Rocka-A-Billy weekend. So here's the scoop cool daddy on what's going down on the 13th.
The reigning Canadian champion of “Hillbilly Bop” – a style that combines the best of Honky tonk, Country Swing, Roots Rockabilly, Jazz and Blues – Alistair’s musical approach is reverent to the past yet unique in style. Though thoroughly competent, Christl takes his music outside the box, viewing purists as a pack of sniveling weaklings bent on destroying creativity. What results is a road house throwback that can wake the dead.
There is an old saying that goes something like this..."old records never die". Case in point is Hamilton Ontario's Burnin' Ethyl. Built on the strong foundations of 1st generation Rockabilly, this trio mixes a pure pop element with their musical attack. Names like Dave Edmunds/Nick Lowe's Rockpile creep back once you hear the vocal harmonies, and guitar dynamics. A stand up drummer finalizes the image of a Rockabilly trio for all the purists.
Whether these dudes are layin on a 55 Chevy singin tunes on the Corner of James and Main, or sweating it out in a packed bar, good luck sitting still in your seat. Get off yer ass and strut! via - Lou Molinaro Host of 'Lou's Control Rock and Roll Radio Show' C101.5 FM.
If you've made it all the way through, you know you're in for a great show. Finishing off the night and in between sets will be DJ Rockin' Dave Faris, and it's all only five bucks at the door.
