After losing our dynamic Godmother of Soul, Miss Sharon Jones last November to Pancreatic cancer, Toronto soul outfit YUKA decided to pay tribute to one of their heros while raising money to help others fighting the same battle. Sharon Jones was a performer who touched many lives and gave her electrifying voice and presence so selflessly across stages all over the world, even while undergoing chemotherapy treatments. She believed that sharing her gift on stage with the world was an important part of her story and she would keep singing and bearing her soul until the very end.
This fundraiser will celebrate the music of Sharon Jones & the Dap-Kings with a 13-piece band (Yuka and friends), plus DJ Misty spinning some of the best funk/soul cuts to keep everyone on their feet. We will have a 50/50 raffle and some special surprises along the way so please join us for our Charity Soul Party! All proceeds from ticket sales, raffles, and donations will go directly to memorial funds in Sharon's name to both the Canadian Pancreatic Society and Wellspring Downtown Toronto Support Programs.
